our kitchen designer

MajjieMarion

Well ... there's sort of two of us.
Marion is the real life version, the kitchen designer you're likely to meet, if you take advantage of our Silver Kitchen Design Service. Majjie is her on-line alter ego; the one who writes the blogs and answers your e-mails ... she's the one you're likely to come across on forums around the internet. She tends to be a bit more opinionated!

Yes ... different glasses ... new varifocals!

Marion has been designing kitchens since 1995. She started working for a direct sales operation (yes ... that's right ... the ones you can never get to leave your house!) and was taught all those high pressure sales tactics. She didn't like the techniques and didn't make a star saleswoman (too easy to get rid of, perhaps!) ... but she did fall in love with kitchens. She left to go and work in a kitchen showroom and hasn't looked back since.

Over the next ten years, Marion worked for a variety of kitchen suppliers and became even more interested in kitchen design. She moved into the high end of the market, designing bespoke kitchen furniture (with no chipboard in sight) but remained fascinated by the overall concept of kitchen design.

In 2005, Marion became an independent, freelance kitchen designer, working directly for individual members of the public, designing any kitchen for any budget level. In her opinion, it's often the lower end of the market where design skills are most needed (but where you often find the most inexperienced designers). It can be very difficult to be imaginative both with small kitchens and with the very limited range of unit sizes provided by cheaper kitchen ranges.

Her true love, though, remains bespoke kitchens, because of the design versatility they give. She has contacts with a number of cabinetmakers and small bespoke kitchen companies. Indeed, she works directly for selected cabinetmakers and kitchen suppliers, when they want some extra kitchen design expertise for their customers.

Majjie came into existence in 2009 when this version of the Advanced Kitchen Design website was designed. Feel free to contact her (use the Contact Us page), if you have any questions about kitchen design ... you may even find your query becomes a blog topic.

Majjie was also invited to write a blog for Yell.com at the beginning of 2010, when Majjie's Kitchen Corner came into existence. You will find links to her blogs there in the Kitchen Buyers Guide Sections here.
