I haven't got one of these yet - but it's on my wanted list! I know pressure cookers went out of fashion in the late 1970's when microwaves took the kitchen by storm ... but I do think they're worth re-considering in the 21st century.

In these energy conscious days, the fact that pressure cooking can reduce cooking times by up to 60%, is worth considering ... and it also preserves vitamins, minerals, colour and aroma in the food.

Modern pressure cookers are a big improvement on the old ones (I had one when I first got married - many years ago - and it scared me to death, sometimes). This particular model has got some rave reviews and it features:

  • a special cone-shaped lid to create less steam than conventional pressure cookers and give a greater surface area for the steam to flow over, so it cools down quicker
  • an integrated cooking guide on the dial - exclusively for Lakeland customers
  • no weights or measures to contend with
  • a spring-loaded safety valve - the ultimate in safe design
  • an automatic lid-lock

Lakeland's cookware buyer, Veronica, is apparently a keen convert ... click the button to find out more.
