Kitchen: Recipes from the Heart of the Home by Nigella Lawson (2010)

(Click on the title for more of Majjie's thoughts)

I'm not a huge fan of Nigella on the telly, as I've said before, but I do think her writing style is great ... very friendly and chatty ... and best of all; her recipes always seem to work. What I really want to know, though ... is why isn't she of similar proportions to me (think side of a house) ... given how much snacking she does?

This book sounds like a particularly good choice, for those who haven't got any Nigella cookbooks yet (and for dedicated fans, of course). It's reported to be a very good read, aside from the recipes themselves; to have beautiful pictures; and good recipes ... although perhaps a bit samey, if you've got all her other books already.

I have a friend who heartily recommends "chicken with forty cloves of garlic" and I might have to get the book myself just to try "pasta with Marmite" and "peanut butter humous". Other recipes are for children, quick suppers, midweek dinner parties (if only!), using up stale food, store cupboard dishes, weekend recipes, snacks and more.
