This is the table for you, if you want to make a real statement, in a modern kitchen. The reason it's a table with a difference, though, is that it's at worktop height ... so, if you're going to sit at it, I'd recommend adjustable height stools. It would perhaps be best for kitchens where you also have a separate dining room, with a table at a more conventional height.
John Boos is a well established American supplier of timber worktops and butcher's blocks ... with high profile customers ... like the White House.
This table has a 57mm thick, end grain, hard maple top ... in other words, a stunning butcher's block look ... but it has been given a varnished finish, rather than oil, so you wouldn't be able to use it for chopping on. You could use it for less strenuous kitchen duties, though, like dishing up ... reading your cookbooks ... or preparing snacks (just use a chopping or bread board if there's a knife involved; and wipe up any spills straight away).
The brushed stainless steel base is fully welded, with no seams and the table has a removable "lazy susan" in the centre ... great for parties and sharing takeaways.
Dimensions (in mm): 915h x 1220 diameter
Delivery 21 - 45 days. The table comes part assembled, so does require a bit of self assembly.
