If I didn't already have a Remoska, I'd be very tempted to buy a Halogen Oven. It's useful for the same sort of cooking but, by the sounds of it, is just that bit faster. It's also quite a bit cheaper than a Grand Remoska.

The heating element, like the Remoska, is in the lid - but, in this case, it's a halogen element or bulb and the intense heat produced is circulated by a powerful, in-built fan.  The only disadvantage, as far as I can see, is that both the bulb and the fan can break and replacing them is so fiddly that none of the manufacturers are keen to do so. I'd recommend taking out the extended two year warranty for £9.95. If you have a breakage after two years, then perhaps the cost of a new one is not too bad an investment for inexpensive cooking over that period?

The Learn More and Buy button takes you to the "Bumper Offer" which includes the basic Halogen Oven - the Oven Ring, which extends the height of the oven by 80mm, allowing you to get just that bit more food in - the Halogen Handbook, so that you've got some recipes to get started with - the Oven Lid Holder, because (as with the Remoska) the lid gets very hot and you need somewhere safe to put it down - some Halogen Oven Skewers, so that you can cook kebabs - and a Halogen Frying Pan, which has a non-stick coating and is good for frying eggs or producing crispy bacon.

Of course, you could just buy the basic Halogen Oven on it's own - it currently costs £49.99 - and it comes with a 10 litre glass bowl and two racks. It's power rating is 1300watts and you can see the food cooking through the glass. The speed of cooking is said to be about 40% faster than a conventional oven (you don't need any pre-heating) and meats and poultry, in particular, stay very moist. It's also good for grilling, cheese on toast, baked potatoes, oven chips and heating pre-cooked meals.

Looking at the reviews, though, having the lid stand and the recipe book would have resulted in a much more positive experience for some people. It's also really important that you remove the lid once the cooking has finished. Steam from the cooked food could be a factor in the early failure of some halogen bulbs.
