An independent source of kitchen design advice & ideas
The SILVER Kitchen Design Service includes everything you would get from the Bronze Service but it also involves an initial design survey visit - from Marion - to your home, where she can ply you with questions. She will also give you advice, show you pictures, measure any walls that are in position (or take measurements from your plans), be a nosey parker round the rest of your house (no, honestly - it often helps - to get a sense of your style and colour choices!) and drink your coffee.
An initial preliminary visit is free, if you are within the Nottingham area. You can pick Marion's brains and see if you would like further services.
If you live further afield then I'm afraid you need to commit yourself to paying the basic Silver Service fee - and the initial visit is also the design survey visit - but do have a good look round all the pictures here (including the Kitchen Design Gallery) and have a look at Majjie's blog, to see if she's the designer for you.
The basic fee is £250 (see the bottom of the page for a summary of extra charges) and for that you normally get the initial visit, a detailed plan, CAD visualisations, a specification and unit list ... and recommendations as to what sort of kitchen to buy. The initial ideas will, once again, be sent to you by e-mail. Alterations can be made to the plan - within the original price (so you can ask for a complete re-think, if you like) ... as long as the kitchen is of average size and not too complicated.
The Silver Service is suitable for those of you who would like a detailed discussion of your requirements before the kitchen plan is drawn up ... for those of you who have complicated rooms with lots of nooks and crannies, or require a complicated kitchen style ... and for those of you contemplating extensions and alterations to the structure of your house - but who are not entirely sure what those alterations should be or where, exactly, the kitchen should go.
Here are some examples of Silver Service Designs:
The following pictures are all of the same kitchen - but show several different plans. It was to be classical furniture, made in a traditional way ... but with a modern feel to the design. The room was a simple but large oblong ... so, it was the furniture itself which had to add interest and structure ... and with quite a big room, there are so many options ...

The only thing that stayed virtually in the same position throughout (virtually ... get it!? ... sorry!) ... was the fridge-freezer.

Sometimes very large kitchens are the most difficult to design, especially with the trend towards open plan living ... there can be a lack of wall space for all your kitchen appliances. Just have a look at the size of this one:

The plan needed to include a four oven Aga ... with an additional module ... which needs quite a lot of wall space:
Of course, some smaller kitchens can get complicated too:
