Fancy Making a Statement with Your Fridge?

Accent colours are important in many areas of interior design ... and the kitchen is no exception ... but it can be quite difficult to introduce just limited areas of colour into a kitchen. It used to be done with wall tiles ... but colourful wall tiles have slipped out of fashion. The trendy kitchen is now more likely to have upstands in the same colour and finish as the worktop. These Gorenje fridges could stand out, though.

Retro in style, they're in the "Funky" range and have a single door with an internal ice box. The handles can be self coloured or chrome and the colours are Raspberry Pink, Lime Green and Juicy Orange.

They are 600mm wide; 635mm deep and just 1465mm tall; so they're not overpoweringly large ... they have an A+ energy rating and automatic defrost in the fridge.  Fridge capacity is 247 litres, ice box is 21 litres. They only come with a right hand hinge, though ... so won't be suitable for every situation.

Gorenje (pronounced Gor- en-ya) is a huge Slovenian company, not that well known in the UK but they're quite adventurous with their design (having worked with French designer Ora-Ito and Paolo Pininfarina of Ferrari fame). They've also won awards for being green and having environmentally friendly manufacturing processes. And of more interest to potential buyers, perhaps ... they offer a free 5 year parts and labour guarantee on a lot of their appliances (including these fridges) ... as long as you register the purchase with them.

You could emphasise your accent colour with a matching glass splashback behind the hob, perhaps. Even if you have to get it made specially ... having just one piece could make it affordable.

P.S I saw some of the Gorenje retro fridge-freezers in the flesh not long ago ... and I was particularly impressed by the handles ... it's the details that can make all the difference:
