An independent source of kitchen design advice & ideas
This was an oblong kitchen with units around all sides and the table in the centre was quite cramped. The clients wanted more space and they wanted a more contemporary look for the kitchen. The new plan moves all the working areas of the kitchen to one end of the room, leaving the other end just for the table.
It's not a huge room but there was just room for a small island, so that even with the new layout there was still plenty of worktop space. The clients made some adjustments to the original plan, requesting an extra cutlery drawer at one end of the island and, at the last minute, turning it round so that this drawer faced the table. Re-arrangements like this often do make sense and can be discussed with your fitter; it's often easier to see how things will fit in, once the space has been cleared and the new units are starting to go in.
The finished result certainly pleased the owners who kindly sent me the photos and this message:
"the kitchen has worked out wonderfully well and we could'n't have hoped for better. By all means pop in if you are ever in this area, we shall be pleased to see you.
Once again thank you for all your help."
