This is another smallish kitchen and it was difficult to photograph; I don't think my photos do it justice really. The first sketch shows you the layout.
Like many kitchens the working area is confined to one end of the room, in order to fit in a table and chairs at the other end and make the kitchen a very sociable room. The owners wanted a range cooker and a traditional mantel arrangement and there was just room to squeeze this in, along one wall, with a tall housekeeper's cupboard in the corner (with doors opening directly onto the worktop).
Wall space was very limited because of all the windows in the room - you can see the sun streaming in, in the photos - but a second tall wall cupboard was fitted in, again with doors right down to the worktop. This one was at right angles to the first - facing into the room, which looks good when you enter through the main door - but it could have looked slightly bitty. To avoid this, the two wall cupboards were joined with a flyover shelf and cornice - which also allowed lights to be situated over the sink area.
The kitchen is in solid,European character oak - not as busy as pippy oak but still with the odd feature knot or two - and is finished off with dramatically sparkling Emerald Pearl granite and tumbled marble wall tiles.
