Alpha Interior Design is run by Dave Hewitt. You'll sometimes find him in the showroom but he often likes to go out and visit his fitting teams, installing kitchens in customer's houses. It keeps him fit, he says, and he also gets a lot of satisfaction from seeing the finished result.

Dave is a Nolte dealer and he also supplies Kesseler cabinets with a range of doors from different suppliers. Kesseler carcasses are made-to-measure and Dave is happy to use whatever door brand suits his customers best. Existing displays are from the Colonial and Eco ranges by UK manufacturer JJO plc ... from Second Nature ... and he also has made to measure vinyl wrapped doors.

Alpha will also supply and fit bedrooms and bathrooms.

The showroom is situated in Nottingham, on the crossroads where the ring road meets the A610, and there are a couple of parking spaces for showroom visitors. If you use the A610 at all, you're bound to have noticed the showroom in the past; Dave often puts a big sign outside. You can see the showroom better when there isn't one (as above) ... but it's not such an attention grabber! Dave has been involved with supplying and fitting kitchens in Nottingham for 25 years or so, and has been trading as Alpha Interior Designs since 1996.

It's quite difficult to take pictures in the Alpha showroom ... it's packed full of kitchens. The picture above shows the main Nolte display which showcases several different door finishes. I particularly liked the "Chicago" doors (you can just see one - top right) - which have a glittery finish. I've added an inset of the doors taken with the flash on the camera to emphasise the sparkle.

Before the Nolte display was put in, my favourite kitchen was the one shown above. I love the lime green splashbacks - which contrast really well with the dark horizontal woodgrain effect on the doors.

Alpha don't specialise in any particular sort of kitchen ... whatever you're looking for, they can probably supply it. They use mainly Duropal for laminate worktops, can supply and fit almost any solid surface worktop (but especially Minerelle) and also supply granite and quartz composite (including Silestone).

Here's a very smart looking display of an Eco "Sentia" shaker style kitchen. Eco kitchens are very reasonably priced ... but they still look the part ... and the shaker style suits almost any style of house.

Dave also had a stand at the Grand Designs Live Show - at the NEC in 2010 and will probably go again this year. Here's a couple of pictures from last year's show. It was a very smart looking stand:
