Majjie's Kitchen Art

Majjie's Kitchen Art is a selection of canvases that are suitable for hanging in the kitchen. Kitchen wall art can make a big difference to the look of your kitchen and provide those little colour highlights that are essential to a good looking room.

Click on this link if you'd like to go straight to kitchen canvas art - small canvas pictures which Majjie thinks are suitable for the working areas of your kitchen.

Or click on this link to go to larger kitchen canvas pictures - which are very high quality and might suit a bigger wall area or the dining part of your kitchen.

All of the pictures feature photos, taken by Majjie herself, which have then been transferred onto canvases ... and, if you'd like more technical details, please do carry on reading this page.

Don't confuse these pictures with some of the cheap canvases you see for sale all over the place. For a start the pictures are exclusive to us ... and are, of course, highly desirable! But we then also have them made to a very high standard. Here's the technical bit:

The wooden frames behind the canvases - known as "stretchers" - are made from wood (not MDF). These are, of course, not visible at the front of the canvas but the quality of the stretcher is very important to the quality and strength of the finished picture.

Every canvas also comes with corner wedges, to allow you to re-stretch the canvas, if necessary. All you need is the tap of a hammer. This is particularly important for pictures which are going to hang in the kitchen. We know some of you have effficient extractors ... but we also know that some of you don't always use them! Steam, and changes in temperature, are quite common in kitchens ... and these can cause the canvases to stretch a little.

Here are back views of a dining area picture and one of the kitchen canvases:

That's not MDF on the larger one, by the way, in case you were wondering. The back edges of the dining area pictures are neatened off with brown paper, over the wooden stretcher.

Here's a close up of the wedges:

For any of you not familiar with this type of art, the finished surface is textured ... not smooth, like a print ... which makes the picture look a bit like an artists painting (just a little bit!) ... all the detail of the photo is retained but without the sharpness of a print image. Here's a close up of part of a canvas:

The canvases used in our pictures are all water resistant, artist grade, to give excellent picture quality ... but because they're going into what can be a challenging environment - the kitchen - they are all, in addition, given a coat of acrylic varnish. The varnish protects against dirt, grease and scratches and is resistant to uv. You can wipe Majjie's pictures with a damp cloth and the odd splash - even of grease - won't soak in and damage the canvas. Both types of picture are treated in the same way - so if you'd like to hang one of the dining area pictures in the kitchen - go ahead.

All of the canvases are made to order and we can normally arrange delivery within 14 days of confirming your order ... but we can't guarantee a particular delivery date.
