If you're looking for help with actually designing your kitchen ... then obviously we think you should look no further than Majjie's Kitchen Design Guides. They provide the most practical help you're going to get ... and if you have any questions we're here to answer them. They also get updated regularly (yes ... ok, it takes an age ... but at least we are updating them!). It's totally amazing how much has changed since Majjie wrote her first Kitchen Design Guide, less than three years ago. Conventionally published books are always going to struggle to keep up-to-date, in a field where styles and fashions now change so rapidly. That's especially true of kitchen appliances, which are so prominent in the look of a kitchen.

I mentioned this book in Majjie's Kitchen Design Guide 1: Before You Start (which is free to download!). I went to a talk given by Johnny Grey a few years ago (he's the bespoke kitchen designer's guru) ... and was very impressed with his ideas about "kitchen central" and how the kitchen should be the central hub of a house. I bought a hardback copy of the book straight away.

I have an earlier, hardback edition of this book, so I don't know what changes have been made in the new edition. It's a true classic, though; as far as kitchen design is concerned.

Johnny Grey introduced ... or that should perhaps be "re-introduced" ... the idea of the "unfitted" kitchen, for Smallbone, back in 1987. Most traditional kitchens would, of course, have been unfitted before the advent of the "modern" kitchen in the 1960s and 1970s ... but in 1987 most new kitchens were very fitted indeed.
