It's all too rare that I go and visit the kitchens that I've designed. I really must try and get round to see a few more. The trouble is, they're often spread out over quite a wide area of the country, and visiting would hold up the current plans in progress.
Yesterday was an exception, though ... and many thanks to Andy and April for their hospitality. I'm glad to say they seemed very pleased with the end result. I thought it looked good too.
I've put the before and after pics here (I don't want too many "before" pics in the gallery!). Beware, though, if you have problems with viewing large pictures - these are quite big.
The kitchen was made and fitted by Steve DeVille of DeVille Interiors. It's a truly bespoke kitchen ... which, of course, is always a bit more pricey than using standard units. Bespoke kitchens have many advantages, though. I was able to design curved doors, to the exact size I needed; use both square and curved posts, to finish off the corners of the units; have a butchers block, made to an unusual size; and specify the number and size of panels in the doors. Andy and April were then able to choose the exact paint colour and oak stain that they wanted.
I've posted a lot more photos in the gallery section, under the heading Hertfordshire Cottage.
The old kitchen, in this case, didn't look too horrendous at first glance ... but the layout was poor and the units had seen better days. Have a look at the gallery section for more details on the new kitchen.
