If you love the new patterned looks which feature in my January '08 newsletter - and you're looking for a new kitchen - and you're brave by nature - then check out Mirari's "Individual" range.
The units have modern flat doors and they are teamed with practical glass splashbacks - nothing unusual in that - except that both the doors and the glass can be customised with your choice of pattern.
Have a look at these
flowery green kitchens. I love them. I'm not so keen on the red one (click on the "Individual 2" heading) but then that's the beauty of the Individual range. You can have exactly the pattern which appeals to you.
It
is a brave way to go, though ... unless you tend to change your kitchen units quite often. Something that seems charming now might not seem quite so lovely in five or six years time. Much easier to change the wallpaper than the unit doors and glass splashbacks.

Sticking to magnolia and plain white might be taking caution a tad too far, though.
If you want to be adventurous with colours then put them on the walls, rather than choose very colourful units. After all, it's not too much work to re-paint the walls if you get fed up with your mauve and orange scheme! Or to re-paper them ... if you've gone for one of the new floral wallpapers.
If you love pattern, though, and do want to try something as adventurous as the Mirari kitchens - just make sure you really love the one you choose. That way you're less likely to get fed up with the look after a few months.
