I Think There's a Conspiracy Afoot ...

It wasn't long ago that I was talking about cleaning the kitchen floor - following a free gift of a (rather snazzy ... I'll agree) mop and bucket. Well it's happened again. I've had another free gift. So what do you think this one is? Is it a bird ... is it a plane ... ?

No ... it's a dastardly conspiracy to get me to do more cleaning ... that's what it is! It's a Dirt Devil Dash, hand held cleaner. And an illuminated one at that. It gives an eery glow to the kitchen at night, when all the other lights are off.

Technically speaking, it's a Dirt Devil Dash DRC 006, 9.6V, cordless, hand held vacuum cleaner with an illuminated base for re-charging and it gives you 15 minutes of continuous use (although I didn't actually test that bit out!). It's certainly light and easy to use and - once I'd got it charged up - I kept fetching it, to try it out on different parts of the house.

It's great for:

  • toast crumbs
  • those little bits of plant that fall off around the base of pot plants
  • spilt tropical fish food
  • hidden corners of the room that you've forgotten - where the dust accumulates (or is that just me?)
  • little bits of dried grass that fall off your shoes when you've mowed the lawn
  • toe nails (I know - bleughh - but they do tend to leap all over the place, don't they?)

It's not so good for:

  • bits of hair and fluff stuck to the carpet
  • cleaning the whole carpet (I know, I know ... but I got carried away!)
  • very small crevices (the nozzle is quite chunky)

I do actually think I'll be using this little gadget quite a lot. It's very easy to empty the container and clean the filter (I didn't even need to look at the instructions) and it does make sense - even to me - to clear up those crumbs and grotty bits as you notice them ... rather than leave them or go and get the big vacuum cleaner. And with it sitting in the kitchen glowing (I'm assuming that's a very low energy glow) ... how can I possibly ignore it ... ?
