Have you noticed the latest Giovanni Rani advert? It features Tim Lovejoy, his beautiful Italian neighbour Sophia ... and a Gorenje raspberry pink (RB6288) retro fridge:

I'm afraid I had no idea who Tim Lovejoy is ... I obviously haven't watched the right tv programmes ... but I have noticed the good looking Gorenje fridges before. Here's the best supporting act in the advert:

Tim Lovejoy - whoever he is - must obviously be a "hedonistic urbanite" since that's  the target audience for the advert ... time poor, cash rich professionals who want good food that doesn't take long to prepare. It's not a very realistic ad - why does Sophia go ahead and cook the pasta in her own flat - when it's supposed to be for Tim's non existent "friend"?

I'd never heard of Giovanni Rana before either, I managed to miss their advert which featured Ann Widecombe. The brand is, apparently, named after the Italian chef who started making the pasta. He's a recent convert to tv advertising and using social media ... although it's reported that he was reluctant to appear in any adverts himself ... he was afraid that his slightly expanded waistline would make people think that pasta was fattening. There's a recipe page on the website too - in case you want a slightly more sophisticated meal than Tim and Sophia's. I'm definitely not a hedonistic urbanite and I found the ad a bit unconvincing ... but I am sometimes in a rush to eat and I might be tempted to try out a recipe or two. I guess that's successful marketing for you!
