I'm still sifting through my pictures and brochures from the KBB show but ... amongst the photos I took ... were some that stood out from the rest. Those were the concept ovens from CDA. Just have a look at this one, called "Pink Lady":

It's not really my style ... but I can see it going down well in some markets. The fascia of the ovens is covered in soft leather - very tactile - not so sure about it being very practical. What would a few dribbles of hot fat do to the look I wonder. Perhaps there's a new high tech coating that can protect the surface. The ovens would certainly add a new dimension to kitchen design.
Here's "Valise":

And "Python":

And - yes - the reflections are of your intrepid reporter. Not yet a hotshot photographer obviously!
All the ovens had a similar finish and there were another three on show; "Macho Man", "Cowboy" and "Flower Power". They were just prototypes, you can't go out and buy them, but CDA were asking for feedback on our preferences.
In spite of my misgivings about the practicality of these ovens, I do applaud CDA for coming up with some new design ideas. These particular models may have been a gimmick, for the show, but CDA are an innovative company. They have a built-in beer dispenser for instance (might go well with the "Macho Man" oven), their cooker hoods are well worth a look ... and elsewhere in the show, I came across their SC145 slimline oven:

This is part of the TKD stand (showing Browns 2000 "Rift Oak" doors) ... but it was the oven that caught my attention. It's not a new model - but it reminded me how useful it might be - in a tiny kitchen - for single people who don't cook a lot - or as a secondary oven for those with an Aga. It's a true multi-function oven with a grill but it's only 45cm wide.
Anyway back to the sifting ... more news later.
